As we embark on a new adventure, remote learning, we will encounter some setbacks. With patience and endurance we will work it out. Lessons will be posted weekly on Thursday and the assignments need to be completed and uploaded by the following Thursday. We will begin with a review of previous lessons. This way you can make sure all your equipment is working fine.
This will be new for all of us, but WE CAN DO IT! So hang in there and let's have some FUN.
BANKING UNIT
On January 8, 2020, the sixth grade math students will begin their Banking Unit. This program rewards the students with "Franklin Money" for proper behavior, study skills, class participation, and grades. Students have a deposit book and will deposit money earned each week during math class. The banking unit teaches students how to save money, pay bills, and manage their money.
The Banking Unit ends in May. At that time, the students will be able to purchase a ticket for a movie and activity day. They will also be able to participate in the auction. If a student was to receive a referral, he/she would lose the privilege of attending any or all 6th grade activities. It is up to the Principal's discretion along with the teacher's recommendation to remove any student from attending the 6th grade activities.
Please remind your child to check his/her pockets before their clothing goes into the laundry. Any money lost or ruined will not be replaced.
January 27, 2020 will be our first banking day. Students will complete an application to open their bank account. They will use deposit slips to enter their weekly deposits every Monday. They need to know their address and a parent telephone number weekly to complete their deposit slip.
The money in their accounts will be the only money they can use for the auction and activities in May. It is important that they make their weekly deposits and not lose their bank books.
Every day students earn $10 by coming to class on time and in uniform with their ID. They are not very happy to lose money for not being in uniform or not completing their I-Ready. Periodically bonuses are given.
